WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST?
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOR LODGING?
Each trip is unique and lodging can range from hotels, to basecamp style lodges, to desert inns, to tents. You can reference the trip listing for detail on that trip’s individual accommodations.
WHAT KIND OF SHAPE DO I NEED TO BE IN?
Our trips are designed to be inclusive and nearly all programming on our adventure is optional. We aim to build trips that are equally enjoyable by the casual runner and those that maintain really high mileage. That said, you will enjoy the trip a lot more if you are able to tag along for most activities. Our trips are not designed for hard core trail junkies and endurance athletes looking to crush 20 miles each day, but we do keep an active schedule and we're on the move almost all day. We do recommend that you are able to do a 15-mile hike at an average pace (with plenty of snacks and water breaks in between). For trail running, all paces are welcome! Ideally you run a handful of times a week and feel comfortable with distances between three and ten miles. We keep a guide at the front and one in the rear so that no runner or hiker is left behind. The runs we have scheduled on most trips range from 4 miles to 6 miles with plenty of opportunities to stop, catch your breath and take in the sights. Certain tips are a bit more active and mileage is included in the trip listing. Highline is a proudly inclusive company and we do our best to accommodate and make everyone feel welcome. If you are unsure about whether you will be able to enjoy yourself on our trip, shoot us an email! email@example.com
WHAT ABOUT INTERNET AND PHONE RECEPTION?
Our trips are intentionally designed to help you unplug. Most of our trips will take place in remote areas where cell service is limited or nonexistent. We cannot guarantee you will be able to connect at any given time but we typically pass through areas with cell reception about once a day.
WHAT IF I’M NOT IN THE MOOD TO GO ON ONE OF THE RUNS OR HIKES?
Generally, this is not a problem. We want you to enjoy yourself and a lot of our activities are optional. On trips where we move from place to place each (like our Italian Dolomites trip), taking a break from the daily activity is not an option.
HOW ARE THE RUNNING CONDITIONS?
We intentionally pick trails that appeal to all-levels with a ton of great sightseeing along the way. Some areas will have inclines and elevation and therefore we like to take a leisurely pace and enjoy the scenery. Prior trail running experience is not necessary but trail running shoes are recommended.
HOW INTENSE ARE THE HIKES?
Most of our hikes are short distances around 5 miles or less. Certain trips include longer hikes and they are noted in the itinerary. =
CAN I TRAVEL WITH A NON-RUNNING FRIEND, PARTNER, ETC.?
On most trips, absolutely. Most activities are optional and non-runners can sit out activities or opt to hike around at their own pace.
CAN I BRING MY COMPUTER?
If you must, but our goal here is to unplug. Probably best to leave it at home and not worry about it.
IF LIFE GETS IN THE WAY OR SOMETHING COMES UP, CAN I CANCEL?
We’d hate to see you cancel, but the cancelation policy in our Terms and Conditions is as follows.
Cancellations within 7-days of booking will receive a full-refund, minus a 2.9% credit card processing fee (each way).
After the 7-day window, deposits are non-refundable.
Cancellations after the 7-day window and prior to 60-days before the trip start will receive a 50% refund*
60-days or less from the start of the trip, there are No Refunds.
*Applicable only if your balance has been paid in full and on time. If the balance has not been paid and you have to cancel, we will retain the full deposit.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK?
For each trip, we provide a detailed packing list and also host an optional pre-trip conference call where guests can ask questions and seek advice on packing and gear.
SHOULD I TIP MY GUIDES?
While tips are greatly appreciated, they are not mandatory. If you choose to tip on a retreat lead by our co-founders, your tip will be donated to The Conservation Alliance's Public Lands Defense Fund.
CAN I ARRIVE EARLY OR LEAVE LATE?
Get in touch and let us know what you’re thinking. We’ll do our best to help accommodate special requests or help you plan your stay in the event that you want to add on extra nights.
WHAT ABOUT SAFETY?
Safety and your enjoyment on this adventure is our primary concern. Our guides are WFA (wilderness first aid) certified, we keep a watchful eye on the weather and conditions and talk to the local Park Rangers to insure all activities are as safe as possible. We also carry 2-way radios and / or GPS distress beacons to alert 911 in case of an emergency. We ask that our fellow travelers follow our lead of responsible enjoyment of our wilderness areas and don’t put themselves in dangerous situations.
