In December we are headed back to Death Valley to run our favorite race, the Death Valley Trail Marathon, and bringing along a small group of fellow adventure travelers.  The race traverses one of the most beautiful features of the park, Titus Canyon. This spectacular canyon is full of cotton candy colored hills, vermilion rock formations, zebra striped slot-canyons, petroglyphs and a ghost town. In short, it’s amazing and arguably the most beautiful races in the US. The entire course is along a gravel road, starting at about 3,500 ft and climbing to a little over 5,000 ft at Red Pass Summit. From mile 12 to the finish, it's all downhill. If a full 26.2 is more than you are looking to tackle, there is an option to run the 1/2 marathon. We've taken care of every detail, so you'll just need to show up ready to run.

Space is very limited and we only have 8 spots available. This race sells out every year, so travel with us to secure your place.

DAY 1: Thursday 12/5 • Hello Highline!

Arrive in Las Vegas in time for our 1PM departure from the airport. We'll exit Vegas and make the trek to our homestead for the first two nights. Along the way, we’ll get in some sight seeing and visit a couple of the most iconic stops in the park. For lodging we've selected rooms on the Western side of the park that are a bit higher in elevation to help everyone acclimate for race day. We’ll enjoy a group dinner followed by a campfire before turning in for the night.

DAY 2: Friday 12/6 • See the greatest hits

A hearty breakfast and a short hike kicks off the day before we tour some of the park's most famous features. We'll be driving from place to place, with short walks intermixed to keep our legs fresh. We'll tuck in early to rest up for the big day.

DAY 3: Saturday 12/7 • Race day

Things get moving early. It’s the big day and it’s all about the marathon! After a post race beer, we'll take a scenic drive to a new hotel for some serious RnR. A celebratory dinner at our favorite local restaurant is in order and will be followed by a restorative soak, under the stars, in a wild thermal hot spring.

DAY 4: Sunday 12/8 • Good Bye!

Breakfast and some chill-time at the warm spring pool ease us into the day. We'll head out at 1pm for the Airport, so flights should be booked with a 2:30pm check-in time or later.

The Fine Print

Please note: Highline has no control over the actual race. We have partnered with the Race Directors for the express purpose of securing bibs. In the 25 years that they have produced this event, weather has caused the course to move outside of the canyon five times and cancel the race entirely once. By signing up, you acknowledge that there could be last minute changes or race cancellation outside of our control.
